Harassment/Assault and Medical: Students playing basketball with three non-students. One of the non-students got angry and struck one student on the side of his head. The non-students left, and TPD was notified. RPIA responded; victim refused further medical treatment.

Saturday, March 4

Grand Larceny: Two cables that were part of light dimmer systems discovered missing.

Sunday, March 5

• Cary Hall

GDA: Student intoxicated and vomiting. RPIA responded and transported patient to Samaritan Hospital. (DOSO, R.A. and R.D. notified; investigation continuing.)

• CII

Grand Larceny: Cabinet forced open, and a flat panel LCD TV and laptop computer stolen.

• ’87 Gym

Medical:Student injured ankle while playing volleyball. Student transported by RPIA to Samaritan Hospital.

Monday, March 6

• Biotech

Criminal Mischief: Damage sustained to two of the three-foot tall walkway lights.

• ASRC Main Gym

Medical:Student injured ankle while playing intramural basketball game. TFD responded and transported student to Samaritan Hospital.

• Crockett Hall

Medical: Student injured ankle while walking down north stairwell. RPIA transported student to Samaritan Hospital.

• Cogswell Lab

Water main break: Water main break discovered by parking and transportation staff. Break affected Cogswell, MRC, and Polymer Center. Several campus resources responded to manage incident. TFD notified.

• West Hall

Fire Report: Fire alarm activated due to an attic flow dry sprinkler. TFD responded.

• Student Union Metered Lot

Property Damage: Vehicle struck by unknown white vehicle, causing damage to driver side door.

Tuesday, March 7

• JEC Machine Shop

Medical: Student cut finger and was transported to Samaritan hospital by RPIA.

• DCC

Medical Incident: Staff person tripped on a plastic transition in the flooring and fell on side. RPIA determined that no further treatment was necessary.

• Sage Lab

Medical: Student complaining of abdominal pain was transported to Samaritan Hospital by TFD.

• Off Campus

Sexual Harassment/Sexual Abuse: Investigation initiated over incidents occurring between two students; DOSO notified.

Wednesday, March 8

• Off Campus

Animal Complaint: Aggressive pit-bull residing in an RPI-owned property investigated. Troy Animal Control involved.

• Off Campus

Drug: RPI student arrested by TPD and a non-student in the residence was identified as a person reported as missing and wanted for a felony drug indictment.

Thursday, March 9

• Between Forsyth and Peck Drive

GDA: Students burned items including a computer hard drive.

• Cary Hall

Medical: Student on prescribed medication felt ill. RPIA transported patient to Samaritan Hospital for treatment.

• Sunset Terrace

Criminal Mischief: Damage done to vehicle’s rear window apparently by a BB gun/pellet gun. Investigators are working with Troy Police.

• Quad Laundry

Criminal Mischief: Damage to victim’s mountain bike. Front rim was bent, and shift gear cables were cut.

• Parking Garage

Grand Larceny:Vehicle entered; no signs of forced entry. Wallet from the glove compartment containing credit/debit cards and a stereo face-plate were stolen.

• Cary Hall

Assault and Criminal Mischief: Student found destroying property; further investigation revealed there was also a fight. Interviewed victim, and suspect was located. Residence Life assisted, and DOSO was notified.

Medical Incident: Student received small cut above upper lip. EMS responded; however, victim refused further treatment.

Sunday, March 12

• Colvin Circle

Fire Report: Fire alarm activated as a result of cooking smoke. TFD responded.

Monday, March 13

• 2144 Burdett

Medical Incident: Patrol responded to an intrusion alarm. Officer fell in driveway sustaining abrasions to hands and knee. Officer transported by DPS to Samaritan Hospital.

Tuesday, March 14

• Burdett and Sherry Road

Medical Incident:While jogging, student injured ankle and flagged down an RPI DPS Patrol for assistance. TFD responded and transported student to Samaritan hospital.

Fire Report: Alarm activated due to cooking smoke.

Friday, March 17

• JEC

Fire Report: Fire alarm activated as result of smoke from a toaster. TFD responded.

Safety Tip: Half of all burglaries happen on the spur of the moment through unlocked doors or windows. Always lock your door. And if you live in halls, do it even if you’re just going to the kitchen or bathroom.
