The women’s lacrosse team suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Rochester Yellowjackets by a count of 16-4 on Friday. With the loss, the Red Hawks fell to 2-1 in the UCAA and 4-1 overall.

The game started off even as Rochester’s Jessica Lerman scored first but was matched by a goal from Attacker Dena Mielke. The pattern continued as the Jackets Erika Bergstrom scored to make it 2-1 before Erin Crocker netted the Red Hawks second goal on an assist from Attacker Julia Geer.

Then, things fell apart for the Red Hawks as the Yellowjackets scored 7 unanswered goals to close out the first half. Rochester made the lead 10-2 early in the second half before Geer scored back-to-back goals to cut the lead to 10-4. This was the last burst from the Red Hawks as Rochester scored the game’s last 6 goals and won going away 16-4.

The Red Hawks will be on the road today when they take on Vassar and hit the road again when they take on Nazareth this Saturday.
