Department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy Senior Lecturers Dr. Charles Martin, Dr. Glenn Ciolek, and Dr. Julian Georg agreed to spend an hour on Tuesday evening getting pie'd in the face by RPI students.
“Pie Your Physics Professors” was hosted by Women in Physics as a fundraiser for their club activities, which includes attending the American Physical Society Conference for Undergraduate Women and Gender Minorities in Physics, or CU*IP.
Each plate of Cool Whip cost $5, with a surprise discounted rate of $1 in the last ten minutes of the event. As a result of the event, WiP was able to raise $982, with $100 coming from a single student to pie Dr. Georg. The rest of the money raised by way of Dr. Ciolek was $160, Dr. Martin raised $230, and the opportunity to pie Dr. Georg accrued an additional $452. The remaining $40 came from students lining up to pie WiP President Madelyn Allen ’28.
