Engineers for a Sustainable World is holding an informational meeting on campus to gauge the interest in the formation of a student chapter at Rensselaer. The event will be in DCC 324 from 2-3 pm.
Islamic art pieces, in correlation with Islamic Awareness Week, will be displayed in the Student Gallery of the Union, and within cases in the Folsom Library until March 24. These art pieces vary from tapestries, stands, mats, paintings and pottery.

The Muslim Students Association hosts the “Faith and Struggle” Poetry Slam at 6-9 pm in Ricketts 203. Performers from all over the Capital Region will go on stage and recite their favorite poems to the audience.
The Poly invites everyone to an ice cream social. This event will be held in the Shelnutt Gallery in the Union at 8 pm. Join the staff and learn about the various opportunities available for you with The Poly while enjoying a bowl of ice cream.

Professor Carl Daniel releases his second book entitled Wisdom for a Livable Planet. The Union Bookstore hosts a lunch event in Mothers on March 31 from 12-1:30 pm. Daniel will be giving a short talk/slide show, talk with people, give away a few books, and sign books.
Comedian George Carlin comes to Proctors Theatre in Schenectady. With his witty humor, Carlin is refreshing with his “in your face” delivery. This event is at 8 pm. Tickets are either $29.50 or $42.50.
Mother’s showcases the band Le Vent Du Nord. This renowned band won the 2004 JUNO award for group of year for its Roots and Traditonal music. Come see them in the McNeil Room. This event starts at 7:30 pm. It is free for RPI students and $12 for the general public.
Nusantara: Malaysian Cultural Night 2005 hosted by the Malaysian Student Association. There will be cultural dances, a fashion show, martial art performance, and food. This event will be held in West Hall auditorium from 8-10 pm. There are early ticket packages available before March 24 otherwise tickets can be bought at the door.

A free dinner will be held on the second floor of Russell Sage Dining Hall for all members of the Class of 2007, sponsored by the 2007 Class council. It starts at 7 pm. Anyone in the class of 2007 interested in attending must RSVP by Wednesday, March 23, at class2007@union.rpi.edu.
The New York State Writers Institute presents novelist Francine Prose at 8 pm in the Assembly Hall Campus Center on the University at Albany’s uptown campus. Prose will read from her novel “A Changed Man,” about neo-Nazis and Holocaust survivor.

WRPI sponsor a benefit hosting King Sunny Ade at The Egg. The king of juju music, Ade performs amazing sounds that is inspired by western pop and traditional African music with roots from Nigeria. It starts at 7:30 pm and is $10 for students, and $20 for the general public.
