Ongoing Through October 5, 2001

LOCUS, a collaboration of work from George Hofmann and David Hofmann, is the first show of the 2001-2002 season in the Rensselaer Union’s Shelnutt Gallery. George Hofmann is contributing 14 abstract collages, which can be viewed through unique wooden windows across the room, designed by David Hofmann. All Shelnutt Gallery exhibitions are free to the RPI community.

The Rensselaer Union sponsors its annual Activities Fair in the Houston Field House. Many RPI clubs will be available to demonstrate what they’re about, answer questions, and give information about joining the club. The event is from 6 to 9 pm and is free to the RPI community.

The Interfraternity Council Rush Barbecue will be held on Freshmen Hill from 4 to 6 pm. Students interested in joining a fraternity this semester are encouraged to attend. Similar events will be sponsored by the Panhellenic Council later in the month for women wishing to join sororities on campus. The event is free for RPI students.

The Interfraternity Council Chapter Rush begins at noon. Students who wish to pledge a fraternity will have the opportunity to learn about the many fraternities on campus as well as meet individuals from each fraternity.

The Polytechnic is hosting a recruitment social at 7:30 pm in the Shellnut Gallery on the top floor of the Rensselaer Union. Anyone interested in writing, photography, composing, or systems administation for RPI’s student newspaper is welcome to attend. Dessert will be served.

Mount Snow, Vermont offers 60 of the finest microbrewed beers in this two-day festival. The event is open to all—while a positive ID is required for sampling beer, anyone is free to try some of the handcrafted root beers offered. Food and parking is free, and scenic chair lift rides to the summit, hiking, and mountain biking are available. Admission is $12 per day or $20 for two days, and includes a pint glass and a free beer ticket. Additional beer tickets are $1.
