President of the Union candidate Andrew Sudano ’17 has withdrawn from his race, citing involvement with recent election tampering allegations. Sudano, a member of the Union Executive Board, has recently come under fire for vandalizing opponent Greg Bartell ’17’s campaign materials.
Bartell approached RPI TV earlier in the week believing some of his campus postings had been tampered with. After a detailed investigation by RPI TV, video evidence was released showing Sudano altering Bartell’s signs.
Sudano has sent The Poly a withdrawal statement as follows:
To the Rensselaer Community,
Considering the recent circumstances, I have decided to step down from the race for President of the Union. I again would like to sincerely apologize for my actions; I believe that my decision to step down is in the best interest of the student body, and I hope to continue to contribute to improving the Rensselaer Union in every way I can.
The Poly will post updates as more information becomes available.
