On Wednesday April 22, from 9 am–12:30 pm, the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute will be having an Earth Day event in the Center for Biotechnology & Interdisciplinary Studies building. Come see the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner who will be speaking there! The event will feature job opportunities for students and a chance to meet professionals in the industry, including representatives from Baldwin Richardson Foods Co, New Pig, Counterparts Chemistry, Full Circle Feed, and others. NYSP2I will be giving out free coffee and travel mugs, the mugs can also be used to get free coffee from Jazzman’s Café until 5pm!
We will be displaying students’ sustainability projects, from our statewide R&D Student Competition as they compete for cash prizes. There will be a team from RPI competing with their Manufacturing Process of Mycelium-bound Biocomposite Sandwich Structures project.
And our final display will be over 100 K-12 student posters from our second annual K-12 Statewide Student Competition.
The event will also involve RPI sustainability student groups including the Engineers for a Sustainable World who are one of our community grants recipients!
The event is sponsored by a variety of companies including Baldwin Richardson Foods Co, New Pig, RIT Golisano Institute for Sustainability, Markin Tubing, NOCO Energy Corp, Counterparts Chemistry, International Paper, Risch, Rochester Midland Corporation, Full Circle Feed, and Wegmans.
