PSS: inspired to give

ON THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 28, WER: THE SPIRIT OF RENSSELAER SOCIETY HELD an event entitled “weR INSPIRED.” Throughout the day, members of weR handed out awareness bracelets across RPI’s campus. According to weR’s Facebook page, the event “celebrates the impact and inspiration of donor philanthropy on the campus of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.” They went on to explain that the members of weR would actually hand members of the Rensselaer community two bracelets. These chosen individuals were then asked to give the second bracelet to a friend or colleague to further increase the event’s influence. Additionally, faculty and staff donors wore awareness bracelets during the day. According to the group, there was also “a poster campaign on campus, with quotes from students, alumni, and faculty helping to build awareness of philanthropy.” The event was part of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education’s Affiliated Student Advancement Programs’ Student Engagement and Philanthropy Day initiative. To make their event happen, weR collaborated with the Office of Alumni Relations, Donor Relations, and Advancement Communications and the Office of the Annual Fund.
