ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 16, THE SOCIETY FOR WOMEN ENGINEERS, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF DIRECTOR OF DIVERSITY BARBARA RUEL, SPONSORED Exploring Engineering Day. There were fifteen different sessions during which children from grades 3–6 engaged themselves in various engineering projects to learn about relevant topics. Each session was hosted by either undergraduate or graduate students. Parents were also able to take part in the events of the day during specially designated sessions. One of the sessions used civil engineering concepts to construct geodesic domes out of rolled up newspapers. Another taught about computer simulation using the Java programming language.
