Hello everyone, this is Mike Borzumate, chairman of the Rensselaer Union Business Operations Committee. The Rensselaer Union businesses are proud to present RUFest ’02, this Friday, 11 am to 7 pm!
The event is a combination of free food, prizes, games, and sales throughout the Union, in preparation for a weekend of fierce sports competition. Friday night, the RPI hockey team crushes nemesis Clarkson at 7 pm. Sports action continues on Saturday when the RPI football team tackles St. Lawrence in the final home game of the year, while the hockey team demolishes St. Lawrence that night. Also this weekend, RPI hosts the NY State Women’s Soccer Tournament at Harkness Field and an exciting swimming and diving meet at the Robison Pool! Wear an article of RPI clothing to show your support for our teams at RUFest!
The festivities include:
Piñata Smash—At 12:30, 1:30, and 5:30 pm, join celebrity guests as they smash piñatas and claim your share of candy, gifts, discount coupons, and tickets to RPI events!
Hockey Ticket Window—Tickets for the Friday night Clarkson game and Saturday night St. Lawrence game will be on sale from noon-2 pm in the Rathskellar. With any ticket purchase, receive a free “Beat Clarkson” souvenir hockey mask!
Pre-Game Italian Fest—Enjoy an Italian buffet dinner in the Rathskellar for only $5.99 from 4:30 pm to 7 pm. Buffet includes pasta, chicken and eggplant parmesan, garlic bread, and a beverage. Wear any item of RPI clothing and pay only $4.99 for a complete dinner!
During lunch there will be free cake and cupcakes in the Rathskellar, courtesy of the Rensselaer Union Dining Service, free popcorn from Father’s Food, and a puck-shooting contest in the Rathskellar for instant prizes!
All day there will be prize drawings at HSBC Bank, Father’s Food, the Games Room, the Campus Unisex Barber Shop, the Mueller Center, and the RPI Bookstore! Also, there will be drawings for autographed RPI hockey and football memorabilia, a free second scoop at Ben & Jerry’s, 20 percent discount in the Bookstore on all RPI clothing purchases, bowling and billiards skill shots for prizes in the Games Room, and a sidewalk sale: “The CD Man” and “Buck-a-Book!”
Put your message on banners to hang at the football and hockey games to intimidate the opposition! A post-game celebration will be held in the Clubhouse Pub, for those 21 and older, Friday night after the Clarkson game.
Join us for lunch, dinner, or the whole afternoon at the Union for an exciting day of food, fun, and prizes!
