Head Coach Colin Tory took his runners to Saratoga Spa State Park Saturday for the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association championships. Both the men’s and women’s teams met with moderate success at the meet.

On the men’s side, St. Lawrence blew away all competition with four of the top six runners; they won the event with a score of 26. Vassar’s Stephen Money recorded the fastest time for the race, at 26:03.

Junior Duane Crammond was the top finisher for the Engineers; his time of 27:04 was good for fifth place. Mark Jensenius, a sophomore, also made the top 10—27:23 put him at ninth overall.

Also scoring for RPI were Justin Jablonowski, Bob Baniak, and Ryan Hevner; they finished, respectively, in 17th, 27th, and 29th place.

The women did somewhat better, placing third at the seven-school event. Their score of 57 left them one point shy of St. Lawrence’s second-place finish. The Hamilton Continentals won the meet and also had the fastest runner, Maggie Hanson, who completed the five-kilometer course in 17:28.

Kate Adams and Katie Roden led the way for RPI. They placed fifth and sixth respectively, with times of 18:39 and 18:44. The usual suspects of Rebecca Rosenberg-Beran, Cara O’Toole, and Allyson Soja rounded out the Engineers’ top five—they finished within 18 seconds of each other in, respectively, 13th, 16th, and 17th place.

Both the men’s and women’s squads get this weekend off; their next competition is the Albany Invitational on October 13.
