As many of you on the RPI campus already know, the United States has sustained one of the worst terrorism acts ever; Two commercial aircraft crashed into the World Trade Center in New York at around 9 am this morning.

Additionally, two other planes crashed—one into the Pentagon and another about 80 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

Institute President Shirley Ann Jackson delivered a news conference which is being simulcast on the web and will be broadcast on campus cable channels this afternoon. News will also be delivered via e-mail and other media services.

All classes and nonessential services on campus are closed for the afternoon.

The American Red Cross has set up an emergency blood drive in the DCC from 1-7 pm. If you are on the line at 7pm, you will be able to give blood.

There will also be a prayer service held in the Chapel and Cultural Center at 3 pm. The Polytechnic wishes everyone well during this uneasy time of crisis.
