Independent Council
Council survey results coming this summer

Jacob D. Hunt
Independent Council President

All this way and the end of this semester is finally in sight. Students are (hopefully) wrapping up their classes and getting ready to leave for home during the summer semester. Likewise, the same is happening in the IC. The final packages of surveys have been delivered to professors throughout the RPI campus and now we are ready to begin tabulating them as soon as they return.

"But what are these surveys you speak of?" some may ask. If you haven’t heard of them before, here it is again, in brief: The Independent Council survey is handed out to selected courses—introductory and elective courses—in hopes of bringing the reactions of those already taking the class to the students who might be interested in registering for the same. If you are lucky enough to be taking an elective class the IC has decided to survey this semester, please fill the form out with your honest opinions.

The results from the IC Survey forms will be published in a later edition of The Poly in order to help provide both new and returning students insight when it comes time to choose these types of courses. The IC Survey is currently 15 questions, so you’ll notice that they take less time to complete than those other red surveys, but at the same time council has made sure that the questions asked get straight to the point.

In addition, all survey results are tabulated right here at RPI, instead of sending them out of state to be processed. Most important of all, you will be seeing the results from this survey, including the comments (again, unlike those red surveys).

So as the semester ends, remember to look for the new survey results, and check the IC website for posts of old surveys as well. In closing, I would like to congratulate Mark Matarazzo for becoming the new IC vice president, Jared Goldstein (treasurer), Sarah McMordie (senator), and Edward Behn (RNE representative). Also, thanks goes to The Poly for making this column a reality, the Council for all the hard work we have done this year (and for my re-election), and everyone else involved with independent issues. I hope to see everyone next school year.
