The Interfraternity Council meeting focused on finalizing plans for Greek Week, as well as the considerable showing of greek life during Accepted Students Day. Expenses were approved and the events for the week were enumerated.

President Jesse Barr ’10 was unable to attend the meeting, so Executive Vice President Michael Lind ’10 was in charge of conducting the business of the evening. Lind offered highlights of the first 5 Star meeting, and announced plans to try to set-up a Q&A session every semester between the IFC and Panhellenic Council executive boards and Vice President for Student Life Eddie Ade Knowles. He also mentioned that there is an upcoming Alumni Inter-Greek Council meeting on April 25 with a location and time to be determined.

Following Lind, the Executive Vice President of Recruitment Demetri Karanikos ’11 announced final plans for the Fall Rush Events Calendar. In order to confirm dates, Karanikos plans on meeting with Residence Life and the Office of the First-Year Experience. Karanikos also requested submissions of photos and videos for the “Go Greek” video.

After Karanikos, the Vice President of Social Ryan Koehler ’11 announced the calendar of events for Greek Week as well as when Greek Week T-shirts would be available, which will be April 13 during the greek volleyball tournament. He also specifically mentioned that there wouldn’t be a Greek Movie Night next week. Following Koehler ’11, the Vice President of Philanthropy Ken Hutchison ’11 reminded everyone of the upcoming walk against violence and the abuse of women at Samaritan Hospital in April.

The Vice President of Risk Management Drew Fineberg ’11 was unable to attend; in his place, Lind announced the date and time for the Safe Zone training session, April 13 from 7–9 pm in CII 3051. He mentioned that Fineberg will be able to provide more specifics about the upcoming defensive driving courses by e-mail or at the next meeting.

After Lind, the Vice President of Public Relations Patrick McAndrews ’12 thanked the houses that submitted photos and philanthropy hours for the Accepted Students Day presentation.

Treasurer Charles Scheide ’11 then addressed the assembly announcing that a business account would take more time to set up than he originally thought. The Union’s legal aid directed him to someone else within the firm more familiar with business accounts, but the conversations are going to take time.

Following Scheide, Secretary Greg Burt ’10 reminded everyone to e-mail him with house events for the upcoming week in order to put them in the weekly agendas. After Burt, the newly appointed greek Senator Kevin VanSlyke ’11 announced that there were seven Senate office appointments and reminded everyone of the upcoming Pizza with the Cabinet on Thursday.

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Representative Richard Morris ’09 announced that the Dean of Student’s Office needs the information about bids that were given this semester. He also mentioned that there are upcoming chapter audits.

Additionally, the contract for the position of representative for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs has been finalized and will be available shortly. Before the meeting concluded, funds were approved for the Greek Week T-shirt orders and for hiring the comedian Evan Wecksell to perform Wednesday at 7 pm in West Hall.
