Last week’s Interfraternity Council meeting provided attendants with more information about upcoming events, such as Accepted Students Day and Greek Week. Additionally, there were requests for input regarding the 5 Star grading system and recruitment efforts. Finally, the positions of greek senator and Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs representative will be opening up.
First, President Jesse Barr ’10 requested more volunteers to represent greek life at Accepted Students Day and mentioned that the 5 Star applications are in the process of review. After Barr spoke, Executive Vice President Michael Lind ’10 mentioned that he was in the process of gathering information about potential revisions to the 5 Star system.
Following Lind, Vice President of Recruitment Demetri Karanikos ’11 announced finalization of upcoming IFC Rush events and the beginning of work on the “Go Greek” video project. Vice President of Social Ryan Koehler ’11 then addressed the assembly mentioning different events. He reminded everyone that the Greek Parade was on Saturday and there would be a Free Skate on Friday. Finally, the movie of the week was Sin City.
After Koehler spoke, Vice President of Philanthropy Ken Hutchison ’11 explained in more details the plans for the joint Easter Egg event with Russell Sage College. There were plans to meet at the top of the Approach around 5 pm to set up. Then Vice President of Risk Management Drew Fineberg ’11 enquired about interest in running a safe zone seminar. A safe zone would provide attendants with insight into how to support people who lead unconventional lifestyles. After Fineberg, Vice President of Public Relations Patrick McAndrews ’12 requested photos and information about different houses’ philanthropic ventures.
Following McAndrews, greek senator Jonathan Babiec ’09 asked anyone interested in potentially filling the position next year to speak with him after the meeting. Representative for the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs Richard Morris ’09 asked houses to make a decision about signing the relation statement and offered to speak with people interested in filling his position next year. Before the meeting concluded, upcoming events were announced. Chi Phi will be hosting Root Beer Kegstands for Cancer tomorow at 5 pm at the Chi Phi house.
