Singlas confound women

Apparently, the rules of attraction have been lost between males and females. Miscommunication happens more often than not, and where guys try to shake off the opposite sex, girls find hidden signals that seem to say otherwise. At least, that is the premise of He’s Just Not That Into You.

The beginning of the movie actually does point out that, at a very young age, girls have been told that whenever guys were picking on them, those particular guys only did so because of childhood crushes. This then spirals toward the common belief that the more cold and cruel the guy is, the more he loves the girl. We see various examples of females coming up with countless excuses for why the men in their lives haven’t called after first dates, much to the audience’s amusement.

Not Into You is set in the city of Baltimore, Md., and revolves around multiple key characters who seem to suffer unrequited love at some level. Gigi (Ginnifer Goodwin) analyzes her dates’ words and actions to mean that they are interested in her, while Alex (Justin Long) advises her that this is not the case. Meanwhile, Conor (Kevin Connolly)—one of Gigi’s first dates in the movie—seems to think of no one but his longtime friend Anna (Scarlett Johansson), a yoga instructor who has the hots for married man Ben (Bradley Cooper). Ben’s wife also happens to be Gigi’s sister, Janine (Jennifer Connelly). On another note—and yes, there are still more characters coming—Mary (Drew Barrymore) is the victim of “MySpace dating,” and Gigi’s co-worker Beth (Jennifer Aniston) is trying to persuade her seven-year Marilag Angway
