Students get involved

Grand Marshal

This past Wednesday Vice President for Student Life Eddie Ade Knowles, nearly all members of President Shirley Ann Jackson’s cabinet, and countless staff members of RPI answered many questions from students regarding the recent administrative and financial decisions. For all those who attended, much important and valuable information was shared. If students have any further questions, please contact either me or the appropriate staff member.

On Friday, a much more exciting event was held in the Rensselaer Union: the Annual Clothe-A-Child Date Auction. This event brought out a huge audience of bidders who were thoroughly entertained by the auctionees; performances ranged from dance to lip-synch, and even an acoustic set played by graduate student John Ashdown. These courageous students deserve thanks for subjecting themselves to the auction. At the end of the night, we raised over $1,700 for the Clothe-A-Child campaign.

The next Clothe-A-Child event will be a wing tasting on February 28 in the Union. The inaugural event took place last spring and proved delicious and enjoyable for all those who attended. I encourage anyone looking for a large, cheap meal to check out the wing tasting.

Beyond these charitable events, the Senate is continuing work on improving our website and communication to students. Our document management website will be up in the next few weeks and will serve as a new means of disseminating information to students.

The Student Sustainability Task Force finished their “Sustainability at Rensselaer” project. This document will be presented to the administration and asks for consideration of new means for improving sustainability. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at gm@rpi.edu.
