Faster than ever, it seems, Thanksgiving break has come and gone, and final exams are now upon us with less than a week of classes to go.
It goes without saying that the next few weeks are very important as the semester draws to a close. This is the culmination of everything that has happened in the last few months, and it tends to be a very stressful time of year. It’s important to remain positive and have a strong work ethic to finish the semester successfully.
Be sure to take advantage of the Institute’s study days on Monday and Tuesday, December 8 and 9. They are opportunities to relax and prepare for exams. On those days, the Alumni House will be set up from 7 am–3 am to provide quiet study spaces as well as rooms for group study sessions. There will also be free coffee and snacks throughout the day to keep visitors energized and in study mode.
Similarly, on both study days you can swing by the Mueller Center from 1–5 p.m. for the Student Health Center’s “Stress Free Finals Celebration,” which will offer free food and prizes.
If you aren’t able to make it to one of these great events, remember to still take a break from studying to eat and relax—integral parts of preparing for your final exams.
And while you’re taking care of yourself, don’t forget to be on the lookout for friends and classmates who may be struggling with classes and stress. It’s always nice to show you care by passing along the advice we’ve shared here. For most students at RPI, stress will be a huge factor in our lives over the next couple of weeks. Don’t let it get the best of you.
There is light at the end of the tunnel, so work hard in these final few days and weeks and then you will be able to finally relax. Good luck and enjoy the holidays that are ahead!
