Casino Night is an annual event sponsored by the Arnold Air Society. AAS is a national organization that is comprised of Air Force ROTC cadets who are interested in community service.

The RPI squadron consists of 25 cadets who do a variety of projects all around the area with each one helping to build the community. On Valentine’s Day this year, the society made Valentine’s cards and decorated the waiting room in order to cheer up veterans in the Albany VA Hospital.

The cadets also mentor at Troy Public School 14, visit the patients at the Eddy, and work at Joseph’s House in downtown Troy.

Casino Night is the squadron’s major fundraiser each year. The cadets set up a casino in the Union. People are able to go there, gamble, and win real money. In past years, the cadets have had roulette and best hand poker, but this year the society will be having a blackjack table, a money wheel, bell jar, Over-Under 7, and Chuck-a-Luck. Over 45 cadets will be helping to staff the event, and it promises to be an enjoyable evening.

The cadets on staff get dressed up, decorate the Union, and run a concession stand. Air Force cadets do all the dealing and each helps with cleanup and setup.

The best part of the event is that all the proceeds go to charity. Last year they raised over $800 for charities such as Childreach, Troy Big Brothers/Big Sisters, the Troy Boys and Girls Club, and the Albany Children’s Hospital. This year the goal is to raise over $1000 for donation.

This year, Casino Night will take place Friday night from 7 pm to 1 am in the Union. Admission is $3, and you are welcome to gamble all night if you like.
