The RPI men’s and women’s swim team sent three swimmers to the NCAA National Championship Meet hosted by the State University of New York Athletic Conference at the Flickinger Aquatic Center in Buffalo. Allison Geer and Meghan Hartman represented the RPI women’s team at the Women’s Championships March 8-10, while Ben Fell represented the men’s team at the Men’s Championships March 15-17.
All three athletes had incredible showings at the championships, with each earning Honorable Mention All-American.
Geer broke a school record and earned Honorable Mention All-American in the 200-yard freestyle with a 15th-place finish in 1:55.29. Geer took 28th place in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.89 and 29th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.10.
Hartman earned Honorable Mention All-American with a 12th-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:37.43. She also finished 19th in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.57) and 22nd in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.83).
At the Men’s Championships, Fell finished 12th with a time of 52.06 in the 100- yard backstroke, earning him Honorable Mention All-American. In addition, Fell finished 17th in the 200-yard backstroke (1:54.45) and 32nd the 50-yard freestyle (21.81).
All three swimmers returned to campus from the championships very happy with their performances. They have joined their teammates who are enjoying the off-season as they are anticipating another very successful season next year in which all three expect to return to the National Championships.
