GM Week 2008 saw a 42 percent voter turnout, with results indicating Kara Chesal ’09 had been elected as the new Grand Marshal, and Robert Odell ’09 as the new President of the Union. In addition to the GM and PU, election results for each class were announced at the Red Carpet Affair last Saturday.
For the Class of 2008 alumni positions, Trent Gillaspie and Ryan Hawthorne were elected as the president and vice president, respectively, while Tamer Khattab was elected for treasurer and Blake Huovie won for secretary.
Class of 2009 president and vice president went to David Drew and Kristiina Baker, and the class representatives will be Lisa Pak, Wasif Khan, Melanie Depoian, Zubin Wadia, Alyssa Kowcz, Amanda Santos, Ben Cho, and Dwight Manganaro.
The Class of 2010 elected Samuel Punshon-Smith and Matthew Spencer as the president and vice president, rounding out the class council with Todd Abrams, Emma Furlano, Shreya Desai, Andrea Chambers, Jis Ben, Jonathan Roule, Megan McNeil, and a tie for eighth to be determined by the Undergraduate Council.
David Walsh will head the Class of 2011 as president, and after a double-counted hand-count, Jeremie Carlson was announced as the vice president. The class council will be filled by Terry Cheng, Lucy Greetham, Claire Miller, Steven Siden, Julie Timm, Morgan Weest, Greg Hart, and Jess Martinolich.
The graduate representatives will be Cameron Smith, Dhanannjay Deo, Matthew Martin, Patrick Snow, and Thomas Parker.
Independent Council representatives for the Class of 2009 will be Wasif Khan, Michael Wallace, and Ben Cho. For the Class of 2010, Simon Sarris, Jesse Hermann, and Corey Stall won as write-ins. Erika Hangro, Steven Siden, and Morgan Weest were elected for the Class of 2011, and the graduate representatives will be determined out of a seven-way tie.
The Student Senate, led by Chesal, will see a number of new faces this year. The Class of 2009 elected Charlie Emala, Marc Ebuna, and Brian Zaik, with a two-way tie between Tim Sprock and Wasif Khan. Sara Brown, Ben Hunt, Teddy Tablante, and Corey Stall won for the Class of 2010, while Ashley Meenaghan, William Jones, Andrew Neidhardt, and Michael Zwack will serve as the Class of 2011 senators. Graduate senators will be Ben Cohen, Dan Horvath, Christina Laskowski, and Dhanannjay Deo, with a three-way tie to be resolved by the Graduate Council in order to fill out the six slots.
