Men’s Soccer
The RPI men’s soccer team will see its season extend for at least one more week of play. The Red Hawks were selected to the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tournament as the eighth-seeded team.
The men, whose record on the season is 7-6-4 overall and 2-3-2 in the Liberty League, will take on SUNY Oneonta on Wednesday at 1 pm. The Red Dragons are 14-5 overall, and 11-0 in the SUNYAC. The winner of the match will move on to play in the semifinals versus the winner of the 4-5 match-up between St. John Fisher College and Ithaca College. The ECAC Championship game will be held on Sunday at 12 pm.
In their only meeting this season, Oneonta State came away with a thrilling 2-1 victory in overtime over Rensselaer. It was a hard-fought game in which RPI battled to the wire. As a result, the Red Dragons are certainly aware of what Head Coach Adam Clinton and the Red Hawks are capable of.
This is RPI’s second appearance in the ECAC Tournament in the last three years. The men won the tournament in 2005.
