Registrar holds

To the Editor:

As you approach registration for the Spring 2008 semester, the Bursar staff wants you to know that we’re here to assist if you have a financial hold on your account. Please read further for some helpful tips that will ensure a smooth and uninterrupted registration period.

Federal Stafford and Perkins Loan Recipients: Each of the following must be completed:

Completion of a Master Promissory Note. Required for first-time borrowers only. The Stafford Loan note may be completed online at http://www.hesc.com/">http://www.hesc.com/. Perkins Loan notes are mailed to students by the Financial Aid Office. Contact the aid office if you need another copy.

Completion of Entrance Counseling Session: This is also only required for first-time recipients and can be completed online at http://www.rpi.edu/dept/admissions/financialaid.html">http://www.rpi.edu/dept/admissions/financialaid.html. Please note one session must be completed for each Stafford Loan and Perkins Loan.

Accept the amount you wish to borrow on your SIS record. Loans are not originated and disbursed to your account until you accept them. This is for repeat borrowers only. First-time borrowers do not need to accept their loans on SIS.

New York State Awards:

TAP, New York Award for Academic Excellence, and other miscellaneous state awards must be approved and certified by the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation before they can be used to clear your account.

Please read carefully all notices emailed to you from the Office of the Registrar, Office of Financial Aid, and Office of the Bursar. Many times, these notifications are attempting to alert you to some outstanding requirement that could prevent or delay your registration.

Review your SIS account to check for any outstanding requirements necessary for receiving or finalizing your financial aid award.

On October 15, registration time tickets were e-mailed to students. Please read this time ticket carefully as it will notify you if there are any issues that could prevent you from registering for the next semester.

If you continue to have an outstanding balance after all of your financial aid has been posted to your account, contact us.

Accounts must be paid in full or paid with financial aid in order to register for the Spring 2008 semester.

Please, do not hesitate to contact the Bursar’s Office via e-mail at bursar@rpi.edu">bursar@rpi.edu, at 518-276-6610, or in person in Academy Hall 2000 level. Please know that we want to help and ensure that your registration process is a smooth one!
