At the Alumni Inter-Greek Council meeting on January 27, Panhellenic Council President Charlotte Kaplan presented our accomplishments from the past year and new goals for 2007. Here are the highlights of that report:

Our campus sororities raised over $37,000 last year for local and national philanthropic organizations, with the largest portion donated to the American Cancer Society. Alpha Gamma Delta was the leading fundraiser, bringing in over $14,000. In addition, the Panhellenic Council raised over $2,500 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Over the past year, our sorority members performed over 1,450 hours of community service, with the sisters of Pi Beta Phi contributing over 850 hours.

For Spring 2006, the combined sorority GPA was 3.26, surpassing both the all–women’s GPA (3.22) and the all–campus GPA (3.11). This past fall, the sorority GPA was 3.19, which equaled the all–women’s GPA and exceeded the all–campus GPA (3.09). Alpha Phi had the highest GPA both semesters, with 3.40 in the spring and 3.27 in the fall.

In 2007, the Panhellenic Council plans to work more closely with the Interfraternity Council, including the planning of a large philanthropic event with the entire greek community. The sororities are also participating in the National Panhellenic Conference’s Academic Excellence Challenge, with the goal to improve the sorority’s GPA by 0.1 this semester. We also expect each sorority to earn at least four-star status in the new Greek Chapters of Excellence system.
