Graduate elections coming up soon

Kerry Dutkus
Graduate Council President

We had a great time at Pub Night last night. Thanks to all those who came and made the event successful. I hope you enjoyed some good conversation and company.

Well, GM Week is quickly approaching and that means that our term of office as members of the Grad Council is quickly coming to an end. I have a few more things I am hoping to accomplish before the end of my term. I hope I can squeeze it all in by the end of March. In my column two weeks ago, I talked about the display case in the VCC. As I said, the case was meant to display graduate student work and achievements. We haven’t heard from many of you, and I know you are all doing some interesting stuff, so let us know about it.

We just finished printing up our latest newsletter and distributing it around campus last week. If you can’t find one, you can always read the newsletter on our website, http://www.rpi.edu/dept/union/graduate/. Our newsletter is intended to share relevant information with grad students and also provide a forum for grad students to speak their mind or share a thought with the rest of us. If you’ve seen our last newsletter, you might have noticed that a fellow grad student wrote an article. If you’d like to submit an article for Grad Life, which will be out at the end of March, just send us an e-mail at grad-council@rpi.edu.

As I mentioned earlier, our term as your representatives is coming to an end during GM Week, which runs from March 30 to April 6. At that time, new senators and representatives will be elected, and from those people, new officers for the grad council will be elected. We would like to invite you to come to one of our meetings during the month of March to see what we do and talk to us about membership on the Grad Council. Many of us who are currently on the council will not be around next year and we’d like the opportunity to let you know what we do, in the hopes that a few of you will be interested in running for the Grad Council. There is no pressure, just a chance to find out what it’s all about. We meet on Sundays at 7 pm in the Union. You can check our website for details.
