Panhellenic Council
Fall sorority rush concludes

Posted 10-04-2006 at 1:16PM

The Rensselaer Panhellenic Council would like to announce the successful completion of our formal fall rush. All the houses had excellent attendance at their individual rush parties and at the rotational events. Alpha Gamma Delta bid a pledge class of 18 girls, Alpha Phi bid 14 new girls, and Pi Beta Phi bid 12 girls. The newest sorority on campus, Alpha Omega Epsilon, received a new pledge class of seven girls. We would also like to remind the women on campus who are not already affiliated that our spring rush will be taking place in late January or early February.

The Panhellenic Council here at RPI would also like to outline our philanthropy work from last semester. The sororities all worked together for Panhel, raising $1,211 for the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Each sorority also raised money for their chosen cause. Alpha Gamma Delta did 275 hours of community service and raised $14,000 for the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation, which supports juvenile diabetes. Alpha Omega Epsilon completed 45 hours of community service and raised $7,406, which went to the Alpha Omega Epsilon Foundation and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Pi Beta Phi put in 619 hours of community service and raised $9,400 for the Pi Beta Phi Foundation, which supports literacy. Alpha Phi did 150 hours of community service and raised $5,435 for the American Cancer Society and the Alpha Phi Foundation which supports women’s cardiac care. Overall, the sororities tallied 1,089 hours of community service, and raised $37,441 for their various charities.

Congratulations to all the houses and their new members on a successful fall rush.
