Interfraternity Council Vice President for Public Relations

As of today, rush is officially over. If you didn’t take advantage of what was offered from the houses, and are wishing you did, several houses do hold spring rushes after Christmas break. Although much smaller compared to the fall, it is still a great opportunity after the first semester is under your belt.

On September 11, members of the IFC and Panhel executive boards met with Dr. Jackson and several members of her cabinet. Both executive boards presented their accomplishments since our last meeting and long-term goals for the upcoming year. Discussions ensued in between and ideas were tossed out as to how we could run and perform tasks at a higher level and standard. An alcohol proposal was presented that was worked on and drafted throughout the summer by both students and alumni alike. A decision was not made regarding whether or not the proposal would be approved, as it is being reviewed during these upcoming weeks.

Several events that are in the planning process will be occurring within the next several months. Up ’Til Dawn, an event to benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, is currently seeking anybody interested in being a part of a wonderful cause and helping orchestrate this first Up ’Til Dawn event at RPI. Although not occurring until mid-October, the committee is doing everything it can to make sure it will be a great success. More information about this can be found at http://www.stjude.org/, or contact Sam Owens (owenss2@rpi.edu) or myself (arredr2@rpi.edu).

The second annual Greek Hockey Night will be taking place on November 17 against Sacred Heart. With your help and attendance, it will certainly be another great event and chance to show our support for the men’s hockey team. Be on the lookout for more information regarding this and other future events.
