This week the senate was presented with the communication-intensive courses requirement by Professor Lee O’Dell. The Community Relations Committee is attempting to widen the use of RAD and is looking at the model at SUNY Albany. Chairman Cody Powers ’06 also mentioned that the City of Troy will be acquiring a new trolley, which will be operational soon.

The Committee on Student Life, chaired by Sadra Azizi ’09, successfully coordinated the first Pizza with the President on Tuesday, and is planning on a “Did you know?” project. The two student representatives met with the Board of Trustees this past week, and will be presenting more information in the near future.

The Finance Facilities and Advancement Committee, chaired by August Fietkau ’08, announced that the Rensselaer Capital Campaign has reached its $1 billion goal, due to the recent donation from PACE. A new campaign to reach $1.4 billion has been extended until June 30, 2009. Also, the committee has been continually working on defining the parking rules and regulations. In addition to that, Rules and Elections Committee has had its hands full with a whopping 15 freshman senate freshman candidates in the upcoming elections.
