An exciting tie-breaker finish meant that for the first time since 2004, the women’s tennis team had won the Rensselaer Invitational.

Two players, senior Lydia Lindhult and freshman Christine Roe, were recognized by the Liberty League for their performances this past weekend.

A new season brought a new partner for Lindhult, Kristen Weiss. Lindhult said about their play that “This was our first tournament playing together and we played very well actually, placed first for third doubles.” Lindhult also won third singles on Sunday.

Roe and her partner Dalton have only been practicing together for a week and a half yet managed to win second doubles.

Co-captains for a second year, Lindhult and junior Erica Sherman are excited to work together and see promise in this year’s team. “We should be pretty strong this season” said Lindhult.

Sherman is playing with sophomore Progga Das again, “We’re very comfortable with each other and we have a cohesive team—very supportive during points. I think that’s part of what makes us play well, the good communication and we’re stable.”

The captains are looking forward to a competitive season; the team already trounced Hartwick and will see them again on the Sharp courts this Thursday.
