To the editor:
I hesitate to thank people in public for fear of forgetting someone. But the RPI Relay for Life cannot go by without a huge thank you to you, our Rensselaer students.
Our Relay for Life was so successful not only because we raised over $115,000 for cancer research, but because of you … you turned a usual Friday night into an exceptional Friday night…
Thank you to: The more than 1000 students who participated in any way … The students who walked all 14 hours … The students who indicated they were among the silent cancer survivors or caregivers … The students who volunteered hours and hours from registration to garbage pickup … The students who entertained us throughout the entire event … The students who grilled more than 1,500 hotdogs and hamburgers … The students who recorded the event through hundreds of photos … all the students who relentlessly and creatively fundraised… The incredible and hardworking committee who spent untold hours and energy over the past seven months … you are extraordinary, as was this event!
This Relay was such a positive opportunity to work and play together; with best friends and people you don’t know, men and women from all cultures, athletes and non-athletes, greek and independent, undergraduate and graduate students, and staff as well. You have shown us how to be a community.
