To the Editor,
I thank The Poly for its coverage of Faculty Senate meetings that was started last year by Joe Hamburg and is being continued by Andrew Tibbetts. I also thank The Poly for the recent correction of a quote
attributed to me. However, the quote is still not quite right, and a fuller version conveys fuller meaning. Here is what I said, as transcribed by Francine Fredette, secretary to the Faculty Senate:
“I’ve never heard her say it personally, but President Jackson has said you can have your say but not your way. She has never given up her way and it has to be a two-way street. It is time she gave a little way.”
This was a spontaneous and oral comment that may be linguistically imperfect but conveys the essence of what I intended.
