Independent Council

Remember when you were a freshman and went to the Union games room during your first week of classes because you had no work? We can’t promise to give you free time, but we can certainly guarantee that this time, you won’t have to pay for your games.

We, the members of the Independent Council are pretty full of ourselves. We’re pretty sure we can school you at any challenge you pose to us in the games room. Think we’re wrong? Come show us at Open Games Room night next Friday, October 21, from 9 pm–12 am. You’ll be able to bowl, play pool, and give ping-pong a try for free, so even when we send you home crying about your losses, at least it would not have cost you anything.

On a more serious note, the IC has been looking into making the lives of off-campus students easier. How would you feel about having a few laundry machines and dryers to use while doing work at the Union, instead of dragging your clothes to a laundromat without access to the other amenities our Union provides? We have also been considering the feasibility of a dry cleaning pick-up service from the Union that regularly allows you to get your suit cleaned before an interview. If you have comments or suggestions, don’t hesitate to tell us!

Please stop by one of our meetings on Tuesdays at 9 pm in the Rensselaer Union’s Student Government Suite. If you want more information, go to http://independent.union.rpi.edu/ or e-mail me at marcua@rpi.edu.
