The RPI golf team had a busy weekend, competing in the Elmira Invitational on Friday and the Liberty League Championship on Saturday and Sunday. The squad had a less-than-stellar weekend, finishing fifth out of seven at Elmira Country Club and last in the league tournament at the Saratoga State Park Course.

On Friday, Rensselaer entered the Elmira Invitational as the defending champion. A repeat was not to be, however, as RPI finished near the bottom of the leaderboard. Sophomore Joe Choma led the way for the Red Hawks with an 82. Freshman Erik Thomas chipped in with an 84. The two finished eighth and fourteenth, respectively.

Nazareth took first in the competition with a team score of 326.

Rensselaer hoped to see its scores improve the next day at the Liberty League Championship in Saratoga, N.Y. Unfortunately, the new scenery did not result in better scores for the Red Hawks, as they found themselves in the cellar with the completion of the two-day tournament.

The one bright spot for RPI was the play of sophomore Dustin Pusatere, who came in tied for 12th with rounds of 71 and 78 on the par-72 course.

Skidmore walked away with the league title with a team two-day total of 529.

Head Coach Miles Nolan’s group will head back to Saratoga today to compete in the Skidmore Fall Classic. This weekend, RPI will be back on the road, traveling to Clinton, N.Y., to take part in the two-day Hamilton-Shenendoah Invitational.
