RPI Wrestling opened its competitive season Saturday at the Bryant University Groundhog Invitational Tournament in Smithfield, RI.
Head Coach John Jenkins, Jr., who previously coached high school wrestling at Voorheesville High School, was only able to conduct four days of practice before the tournament. “This was really more of a scrimmage for us to gauge our skill level,” commented Jenkins. “I’m very pleased with the way things went.” RPI had five wrestlers come within one match of finishing in the top four.
The wrestling team is back in action on February 6 when they travel to Adirondack Community College.
