New England 24, Baltimore 3—Just when Kyle Boller was starting to pick it up, he rolls a gutter ball. Without the help of running back Jamal Lewis, the Ravens’ offense stalled in the slippery weather. The Patriots’ offense had trouble in the mud as well, but managed to get enough points for the defense to finish it off. Jarvis Green returned a Boller fumble for a touchdown to seal this game.
Buffalo 38, Seattle 9—The Seahawks aren’t soaring high these days. Willis McGahee ran over the Seahawks’ defense for 110 rushing yards and four touchdowns. The Buffalos’ defense held the NFL’s leading rusher, Shaun Alexander, to 39 yards and kept Matt Hasselbeck from finding his rhythm.
Cincinnati 58, Cleveland 48—The scoreboard was swinging in this Ohio shootout. Unfortunately, a recount won’t do any good for the Browns. Both defenses seemed to disappear in the second half, as both teams lit up the scoreboard. Rudi Johnson ran for 202 yards and two touchdowns to help keep the Bengals’ offense balanced. Kelly Holcomb threw for over 400 yards and five touchdowns, but threw a crucial interception that was returned for a touchdown to end any hopes of coming back.
