The Student Senate made a decision on the results of the interim report made by the ad hoc Judicial Process Review Committee last semester.
The committee has now been charged with the task of creating new documents that describe the current judicial process more clearly and accurately.
Among the documents to be created will be graphic aids such as flowcharts that will make the process as easy to understand as possible. Bylaws and other documents will also be updated to better reflect the way the process is currently executed.
The report suggested the Senate take one of two courses: Begin from scratch and rebuild the judicial system from the ground up, or revamp the documents that define the current system.
The Senate decided that because of time constraints on the current session, the latter would be the better course of action. However, they also included in their motion the intent that the next session should use these more clear explanations to explore what problems exist in the system as it stands.
At the same meeting, Senator John Cahill made a motion based on one proposed by Senator Will Bobrowski last semester to dissolve the Independent Council via an amendment to the Union Constitution.
The motion was postponed to allow the Senate time to investigate the workings of the IC, but the body is expected to begin moving on the issue next week in order to approve or reject the motion in time for a referendum during the GM Week elections.
