The Red Hawks field hockey team is taking on the St. Lawrence Saints in the Liberty League tournament Saturday. Earlier this year, The Saints and the Red Hawks locked horns in Canton, N.Y., with the Saints emerging victorious on their home field. The 2-1 defeat for the Red Hawks was one of only two Liberty League losses this season, the other coming to first-seeded William Smith.

The other Liberty League semi-final features the William Smith Herons and the Skidmore Thoroughbreds. William Smith completed a perfect schedule in league, but only defeated the Thoroughbreds by one goal.

RPI beat Skidmore in their Liberty League opener 2-0 at Harkness Field. The Red Hawks dropped their final Liberty League game to William Smith at home.

Sondra Sherman led the team in scoring in the regular season with 15 goals. Her 15 goals are good for second in the Liberty League (behind Sophie Dennis of William Smith), and her shooting percentage, .441, is good for first in the league. Amanda Lund is also leading the league in many statistical categories as well. She leads the league in saves, with 132, and saves per game, with 8.80. Her three shutouts are good for second in the league (to William Smith’s Susan Jordan), and her goals-against average is fourth in the league.

The Red Hawks dropped their final tune-up for the Liberty League Tournament 6-0 to powerhouse Middlebury. The Panthers scored five goals in the first half en route to the blowout victory. Amanda Lund made 22 saves, a great effort against Middlebury’s 34 shots.
