Carolina 28, Kansas City 17—Back-up DeShaun Foster started in place of the injured Stephen Davis and rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown, proving he could carry the load. Kansas City’s high-powered offense couldn’t help keep the pressure off their defense with Trent Green and Priest Holmes coming up with sub-par performances.
Chicago 21, Green Bay 10—Mike Brown’s 95 yard fumble return for a touchdown helped spark the win against division rival Green Bay. Thomas Jones had a big day rushing for 152 yards and a touchdown over the Packers defense. The victory was bittersweet for Brown, who tore his Achilles’ tendon, ending his season.
Philadelphia 27, Minnesota 16—Neither Randy Moss nor Terrell Owens had an electric performance, in this much hyped match up. Daunte Culpepper’s fumble on the 1-yard line and Morten Andersen’s missed field goal proved costly towards the end of the game.
