Dan Farrand Senior Reporter Choma, golf take first
Joe Choma’s tournament-low 77 propelled the Rensselaer golf team to their first tournament victory of the season. The Engineers defeated SUNY Delhi by five strokes to win the Elmira College Invitational this weekend.
Choma, who was named the Liberty League’s Golf Performer of the Week, became the second medalist of the young season for RPI as he edged Erik Thomas of Delhi by one stroke. In early September, Rensselaer’s Ed Lombardo took the medal in the St. Lawrence Invitational, also by one stroke.
The remaining Engineers all performed well as Mike Fee, Dustin Pusatere, and Mark Wendell all tied for fourth, by shooting rounds of 80. | |
