Letter to the Editor Swearing unnecessary
Posted 09-08-2004 at 4:41PM
 To the Editor:
The hysterical response of the United States Congress to the breast-baring incident at the last Super Bowl is a topic worthy of satire as well as serious discussion. Alas, in his maiden attempt at editorial commentary entitled “Learn to Deal With Obscenity” which appeared in the September 1 issue, Andrew Tibbetts did neither; he could only muster a pathetic piece of potty-penned polemic. It is an inauspicious beginning, but one hopes that Tibbetts will come to learn that crude, self-indulgent, intemperate prose is the province of intellectual midgets, and that pungent criticism can be made without resorting to juvenile shock-jockery.
