Josh Schuster
Undergraduate Council President

Like everyone else, I’d like to welcome you all back to RPI. Hopefully you gathered from the byline that I am Josh Schuster, the current president of the Undergraduate Council. The purpose of the Undergraduate Council is to oversee the four undergraduate class councils and act as their legislative body. But most importantly, the UC represents the undergraduate students here at Rensselaer and serves as a forum for their concerns.

With that said, it should be known that you can contact the UC via e-mail at uc@rpi.edu, or personally come to our meetings. They will be held Tuesday nights at 8 pm in the Student Government Suite in the Rensselaer Union. However, I encourage you all to seek out and get involved with your individual class councils. I will get you that information by my next article and will hopefully have information on the Class of 2008 class council.

Speaking of the freshman class, I strongly encourage all of you to get involved with student government and the upcoming elections. Student government is a great way to get involved and stay up to date with all of Rensselaer’s activities. Best of all, you can directly influence many issues and events that occur on campus.

I also hope that all of you, especially the new freshman class, can attend the activities fair on Thursday in the Houston Field House and stop by the student government table. There you can find information on the UC and all other student government groups, and best of all, you can meet me! Good luck in the upcoming semester!
