Panhellenic Council Panhel receives council award
Posted 03-17-2004 at 4:45PM
Danielle M. Decatur Rensselaer Panhellenic Association The Panhellenic Council, along with the Interfraternity Council, just returned from the Northeast Greek Leadership Association Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a weekend of education and fun, and the Panhellenic Council was bestowed a prestigious programming excellence award, indicating outstanding achievement in the area of council management. The three categories in which a council must excel in order to earn this honor are council communication, council documentation, and council financial structure.
In recruitment news, planning for the rush calendar has begun. The first week of classes will consist of many all-greek events to boost interest in the freshmen and greek communities. A greek recruitment CD is being put together so it can be distributed to the Class of 2008 at Student Orientation. The CD will feature historic and philanthropic information from each house as well as facts about activities, housing, and photos. It will also contain photos of the Greek Three-Day this semester to display our unity. A recruitment seminar is also in the works. We are trying to host a professional speaker to help all houses improve recruitment in the fall.
The “I’ll Make Your Wish” date auction is set for March 29 at 7:15 pm, most likely in DCC 308. The Panhellenic Council met with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Northeastern New York and the organization is behind the event 100 percent. Applications to be a contestant are currently available; please contact Karen Gollins at gollik@rpi.edu if you are interested. | |
