Field House hosts Guster March 18

With Spring Break just a few days away, things on campus are starting to slowing down. One event that would be great to attend is President Jackson’s Spring Town Meeting. The presentation will be this Thursday, March 4 in DCC 308, from 3 to 5 pm. Town meetings are organized to address the current state of the Institute, as well as community concerns.

During the Executive Board’s last business meeting, we approved a subsidy request for the Ski Club to host a trip to Bousquet Mountain on Friday, March 19. This ski trip costs only $15 and includes transportation, lift ticket, rentals, beginner lessons, and dinner. The club was offered an excellent deal and they have opened it to any student, faculty, or staff member who is interested in attending. The space is limited, so signups will be on a first come first serve basis. To reserve a spot, go to the Union Administration Office by Friday, March 5. If you have never tried to ski or snowboard before, this would be a great opportunity to try it out, since the lessons and rentals are included in the ticket price!

If you haven’t bought your tickets for Guster yet, be sure to buy them soon before they are sold out. The concert will be on March 18, the Thursday after we come back from Spring Break. Tickets are only $15 with your Student ID card. This is a Culminating Year Experience Signature event, sponsored by the Office of the President, the Student Life Division, and the Rensselaer Union UPAC Concert Board.

Rensselaer will be hosting the men’s hockey team’s ECAC first round series against Princeton University. The best of three series is set for this weekend, March 5-7. The playoff tickets are available today, and may be purchased at the Houston Field House for $5 per student. If you are around during this weekend, I definitely recommend attending the playoff games since we have a great chance to advance in the tournament.

For all those who have big vacation plans, I hope you have lots of fun and stay safe! If you don’t have the opportunity to travel this break, you can at least relax, see some family, and not do school work. In any case, have a great break and enjoy yourself, wherever you are!
