Kevin Fodness
Interfraternity Council Vice President for Public Relations

Two weekends ago, representatives from the Interfraternity Council, the Panhellenic Association, and presidents of the sororities and fraternities on campus met for a Greek Leaders Retreat in the Alumni House. Ray Lutzky, Class of 2002 and a brother of Lambda Chi Alpha, came for the weekend to serve as the guest speaker. The retreat, which lasted three days, was an opportunity for greeks to develop a strategy for working together over the next year to improve relations with campus, their neighbors, and Troy area.

Last Wednesday at an IFC presidents’ meeting, the Statement of Relationship Between Rensselaer and Social Fraternities and Sororities was debated. This document has been in serious need of revision for a number of years, and through the efforts of those present at the two and a half hour meeting, a number of suggestions have been made for improvement to the current working draft. The Panhellenic Association reviewed the document later in the week. The Interfraternity Council, the Panhellenic Association, the Dean of Students Office, and the Alumni Inter-Greek Council are working together to get the document revised and approved as soon as possible.

With spring rush drawing to a close, the fraternities and sororities on campus are starting to shift their gaze outward to campus and Troy. The IFC is looking for volunteers to serve on a number of committees for the semester. If you are interested in serving on the committees of rush, philanthropy, public relations, or social events, please send an e-mail to ifc@rpi.edu.

The IFC is interested in collaborating with campus organizations on philanthropic ventures and social events. If your organization is interested in working with the IFC, please send us an e-mail or talk to one of the members of the executive council.
