Dr. J could earn more

To the Editor:

The spineless faculty member that fired anonymous potshots at Dr. Jackson for not being sufficiently altruistic should consider the following:

Considering Dr. Jackson’s resume, as a candidate in the private sector she would almost certainly be a shoo-in as a CEO for many Fortune 500 firms. With average CEO pay (according to a survey of 100 large public companies taken earlier this year by the magazine Fortune) approaching $15 million, it looks to me as if Dr. Jackson is leaving a lot of money on the table.

Further, envious and petty complainers should realize that by all metrics, Dr. Jackson has done an incredible job. Compare that to the corporate chiefs whose stock prices have plummeted while they slept at the wheel as their underlings mismanaged and looted in a orgy of unrestrained greed. Dr. Jackson is looking pretty cheap, as far as I’m concerned.
