Ottawa Senators—Last year’s President’s Trophy winners for the NHL’s best record have sunk to dead last in the Northeast Division with a 7-6-2-1 record in 16 games after a 2-1 loss to Buffalo Monday night.

Montreal Canadiens—After getting off to a hot start, they’ve cooled of late despite the return of captain Saku Koivu from injury. The Canadiens dropped seven of their last 11, including a 6-2 loss to Ottawa, a 5-0 loss to Philly, and a 5-1 loss to the Rangers.

Atlanta Thrashers—Another case of a hot start turned tepid. After racing off to the league’s best record early on, Atlanta has also lost seven of its last 11.
