The Rensselaer Panhellenic Council has once again been busy with philanthropy and community service. The lip sync on Tuesday night earned almost $700 to be donated to a local charity which is to be determined. The pledges from Delta Tau Delta won the event with a rendition of “Beat It” by Michael Jackson. Businesses sponsoring prizes for the event included Exotic Airbrush Tanning, Manory’s Restaurant, June’s Skin Care Clinic, Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream , and Pawling Flower and Gift.
On October 19, several members from each house woke up early to go support efforts to fight breast cancer by participating in the walk in Albany. The council donated the funds earned at the car wash held earlier in the semester to sponsor the walkers. The community service committee is still planning a day for dog walking at the Humane Society.
Panhel’s relations committee is planning a mixer for November 4. A favorite craft—and greek pastime—will be shared by all three houses, letter making! Participants will be asked to bring their supplies, so that everyone will have a wider selection of fabrics to choose from. The sports committee is also planning powder puff football on November 1. All are encouraged to come out and support their favorite team!
