Suzanne Peluso
President of the Union

Hi everyone. This coming weekend will be packed with a variety of events, many of which center on the Rensselaer Union. Family Weekend will host events from Friday through Sunday, so be sure to invite your family to the Rensselaer campus to get a taste of your college experience. “Meet the GM and PU” will be one of the first events, on Friday at 4 pm in the Union horseshoe. Mike and I will be prepared to speak to families about student government, in addition to hosting games for children, and providing free caricaturists, face painting, and cotton candy.

Later that evening, the Rensselaer Music Association will host a concert in which the Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Percussion Ensemble promise to keep you entertained. Come enjoy the jazzy, traditional, and unique sounds performed by these talented students in the McNeil Room at 7:30 pm.

On Saturday, the Office of the First-Year Experience will host Fall Fest, a free Communiversity event for the city of Troy and the campus community on Sage Avenue in front of the Rensselaer Union from 1-6 pm. The event will feature food, free music, and entertainment, and plenty of fun for all ages.

The International Festival will be held in the McNeil Room from 11 am-2 pm. Enjoy performances, art and artifacts, and, of course, food from over 30 countries and cultures. This unique event showcases the diversity of cultures alive at Rensselaer. Students from our international clubs, representing countries including India, Greece, and China, will perform traditional dances, display artwork, and show off fashion from their respective nations.

The Rensselaer Music Association will host a Classical Concert in the McNeil Room at 4 pm, where you may enjoy sounds of the Concert Choir and the Symphony Orchestra in the evening. Following this show, the Chicago Comedy Company Improv Troupe will present their improvisational comedy show, which will include audience participation, with more customized comedy about your family and college life.

On both Friday and Saturday evenings, Players presents Up the Down Staircase in the Playhouse at 8 pm. This play follows the life of an inner-city school teacher who tries to make a difference, and was the basis for the movie Dangerous Minds.

Remember that early Sunday will mark the end of daylight savings time, so be sure that you set those clocks back one hour and enjoy a longer night!
