Panhellenic Council Speakers address issues for women
Posted 10-08-2003 at 3:33PM
Kelly Beth Walsh Panhellenic Public Relations On Monday, September 29, Panhel brought in two speakers from Troy’s Planned Parenthood to do a seminar in Mother’s. The speakers covered topics including services, contraception, and counseling with the group of nearly 30 Greek women. The event was both educational and fun and was considered to be a success. Greeks were again educated on Thursday, October 2 by a speaker who addressed the subject of hazing.
Philanthropy and community service has been a prominent theme this semester. Panhel is sponsoring five women from each house in a breast cancer walk on Sunday, October 19. Nine Alpha Phi sisters walked in the American Heart Walk on Saturday, September 20. The Panhel community service committee is trying to plan a day to visit the Humane Society to walk dogs.
Looking ahead on the greek agenda: October 14 through 18 marks Greek Week. Panhel sponsors an annual lip sync contest and proceeds benefit local charities. Many laughs are to be had, especially if you’re privileged enough to be acquainted with the participants. It will be held October 14 at 8:00 pm in DCC 308. | |
