Many plans for council this year

Leslie A. Granger
Undergraduate Council President

As you may have heard too many times in the last two weeks or so: welcome to RPI: Home of Homework and Opportunity. One of those many opportunities is the Undergraduate Council, a group of class representatives who, beyond their regular duties, also approve class constitutions, keep their class councils abreast of what is going on with the other classes, and help bring different events to the undergraduate population. Beyond that, the Undergraduate Council represents the undergraduate community to the campus at large.

This semester will be no different. With plans to rework our own bylaws, acquaint ourselves with the events of over 200 Union organizations, as well as host an event of our own, the UC will need all the help that it can get.

Interested? If you are, you have two options. The first is to become a class representative. For this position you would need to go through the election process. If you win, and you know you will, you can then ask your council to elect you to the position of UC class representative. I would recommend this method to everyone. Not only does it allow you experience on the class council, you also have a chance to see how the classes work together behind the scenes as well as use your enthusiasm to make things at RPI that much more fun. However this is a big time commitment.

For those of you who still wish to be on the Council but cannot commit to the time it takes to be on two organizations, you can still join as a member-at-large.
